Mama's $500 Money Doll
Mama, with her big sisters, Aunt Earline and Aunt Celeste, raffled a Money Doll every year for decades to raise money for St. Rose of Lima Parish on Mon Luis Island, AL (where they were born) and historic Black Catholic Josephite Parish, St. Peter Claver (1911), that was combined in 1970 with historic St. Vincent de Paul Parish (1847, the 2nd oldest Parish in the Archdiocese of Mobile) to form Prince of Peace. Aunt Celeste, always dressed the Money dolls and donated the 50th Anniversary doll in red (Mama's favorite color) that resembles Mama at 15 years old on her Wedding day in 1944 at St. Rose of Lima Church. After Mama passed to New Life in 2006, we’ve continued the Money Doll Raffle in her memory.
