In July of 2022, I lost my beautiful Mom, Ginny Loescher, to stage 4 urethral cancer. Losing her four weeks after the birth of my first child changed me in ways I could never fully put into words. I'm so proud of our family for pulling together to support her in her last few months of life, and for standing together in the face of adversity and hardship in the weeks, days, and months following. I'm especially grateful to the staff at the Brady Urological Institute at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, MD, whose treatment treatment and care, was able to give us 26 additional months with Mom after her stage 4 diagnosis in May of 2020. Urethral cancer represents less than 1% of all cancers diagnosed, and the five year survival rate is less than 13%. My Mom fought like an absolute warrior until the very end, and her strength and grace inspire me always.
In memory of my Mom, and to celebrate her second heavenly birthday December 9th, I created a 72" x 72" Vintage Lace Quilt (pattern by Lo & Behold Stitchery), and I am selling raffle tickets through this platform, so that the winner can gift this beautiful quilt for the holidays to a loved one. 100% of the money made off of the raffle tickets will be donated to the Brady Urological Institute at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, MD to fund research into treatments of this horrible disease. The Brady Urological Institute took wonderful care of my Mom, and gave us more time with our beloved matriarch. I wanted a meaningful way to honor my mom's legacy, and to help another family from feeling the tremendous loss from this disease.
This year, raffle tickets are one for $20, or if you pay $100, you will receive 8. The quilt will be shipped in time to gift for the holidays.
I am so grateful for all of the support our family has received over the last year and a half, and continue to be humbled by your love.
I love you for always, Mom. All for one and one for all. Happy Birthday!
