On February 13, 2023, I lost my best friend and better half, my twin sister Jahzia Barskile. She was a beautiful caring soul, that loved her family and friends. She was a hard worker and a beautiful young mother. She loved to give back and was truly and inspiration to many.
 
In 2010 at the age of 8 Jahzia and myself with the help of our church family organized a Youth Exploitation and Back To School Giveaway in our hometown Bluefield, Virginia. From the young ages of 7-12 we were volunteers with a homeless shelter “Open Heart Ministries “. From the ages 4-12 we were a part of “The Buds Of Promise” organization in the AME Zion East Tennessee/ Virginia conference. In the 8th grade Jahzia helped organize the spirit team at Knox Middle School and participated in being the school mascot. In high school she was a part of the JROTC program, Me-Time, and the Tppi program. She graduated with the class of 2020 all while working, becoming a new mother and dealing with the struggles of Covid-19. When she graduated, she was promoted to manager at Papa Johns Pizza. The last year of her life she worked at Daimler Trucks as a painter where she left an impact on her fellow employees that will forever be remembered.
 
The death of a loved one is already hard enough, but Jahzia was more than that to me…. She was my twin sister. My sister lived her life to give back and I cannot think of any other way to honor her life. I have organized a walk/run to honor life, and I will be donating all the proceeds from this event to the Tppi Rowan and the Born Leader Club. These organizations were very dear to my sister’s heart and I know if she were here she would want nothing more.
