Project Take Off represents the beginning of the No Surrender Pet Fund. No Surrender Pet Fund is a non-profit assistance fund for pet parents who are put in the daunting position of choosing the unimaginable over their beloved family member due to financial hardship. Year after year animals are abandoned, surrendered, and euthanized because of an unexpected accident, illness, behavior issues and more. No Surrender Pet Fund is an attempt to decrease the number of pets that end up on the street, in a shelter, rehomed, or even euthanized because of the pet parents' ability to pay for something unexpected. Even rehoming has a significant impact on the mental state of the pet parent and the pet! No Surrender Pet Fund is an assistance fund to support keeping pets in their original homes with their beloved pet parents, while decreasing the number of euthanizations due to financial hardship, through a structured application process. As the founder of No Surrender Pet Fund, I have many stories of help I received when one of my furry family members needed emergency medical attention. I also have one particular story that did not end well when I was not able to continue treatment for my baby that may have only needed one more day of care in the hospital to survive. Recently, I had another run-in with a young lady whose best friend (dog) was impaled by a fence in the abdomen after attempting to jump over it. I felt immediate empathy as if I was the one losing my best friend because I couldn't afford to keep paying for care. I knew right at that very moment that my many years of just thinking about starting a fund like this needed to be put into action immediately.
