I am Latrivia Guinn founder of Creating Sparks. I started a non-profit program to empower the youth in my community. Coming from a single parent home, sexual abuse, runaway, teen pregnancy, high school dropout, catching a retail fraud and more. I learned how to overcome by going back to school and ultimately becoming a Psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner and writing a book.
Our program began in February of 2022 in Jackson, MI. We culminated with an annual banquet for the girls. We have since expanded to include 2 chapters in Uganda, East Africa. The program is all about changing mindsets and giving them the mental tools to be successful in spite of negative environments. In January 2024 we are taking our girls from Michigan to Uganda so they can connect and share with other youth who face similar challenges. There is something about serving and giving to others that can uplift a downcast soul.
Attached are some pictures of the programs that are happening in Uganda. We also have a sustainability plan to further our programs by purchasing a hospital. A hospital would generate income to fund creating sparks continuously. Our goal is to create sparks of hope in every community.
