Hello Everyone,
I know that most of you know our journey with Maksym. We have been fight to get him home for over 2 years now.
What most if you may not know, is that Maksym has an older brother named Sasha. Sasha was also in the orphanage until he graduated 9th grade. He is currently in the Military and is terrified that he is going to die. In Ukraine the orphans are the first ones to be sent to the frontline and give their lives. In Ukraine an orphan's life is thought to matter less than other people's lives. Sasha has some learning disabilities. He should not be in the military. The commander is refusing to release Sasha without a formal process. We have a Ukrainian attorney helping us, but he process is very expensive. This was an expense we were not prepared for on top of everything we have spent to help the children at Maksym's orphanage.
Maksym does not want his brother to die and we do not want that either. We are hoping to do a series of fundraisers to help raise enough money for Sasha's attorney costs and the legal fees to allow Sasha to be release from the military.
I was recently told that many of the boys that have aged out of Maksym's orphanage have already died in the war.
I cannot in good conscience let this kid be sent to his death just, because he has had nobody to help and care for him all his life. He deserves a chance to live. He is begging me to help him.
We appreciate everyone's support with Maksym and the children at his orphanage. We hate to ask for additional help, but we just do not know what to do. We can't let Sasha die if we have the opportunity to help him.
Maksym already offered me all the money in his bank account to save his brother, because he doesn't want him to die.
Please feel free to share this with any friends or family that you feel would be willing to help as well.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR SUPPORT!!
Thank you,
Jen Rogers
