OUR MISSION:
Veteran Air Warriors (VAW) is a Montana-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to helping United States military veterans transition into meaningful and sustainable careers within the aviation industry. By combining veteran workforce development with the growing national demand for professional pilots, VAW creates a pathway that honors service while building future opportunity. Veterans possess discipline, leadership, adaptability, and technical skill, that translate directly to aviation.
However, many veterans face significant barriers when pursuing pilot certification, including high training costs, complex regulatory requirements, and limited industry access. Veteran Air Warriors exists to remove these obstacles and guide veterans from initial interest through long-term aviation careers.
VAW’s mission is centered on providing structured guidance, mentorship, and financial support to veterans seeking FAA pilot certification. Participants receive assistance navigating flight school options, leveraging GI Bill education benefits, and understanding certification pathways from Private Pilot through advanced ratings. Prior flight experience is not required, only commitment, eligibility, and a desire to pursue aviation professionally. The Veteran Air Warriors program supports veterans through each stage of training while maintaining a strong focus on accountability and long-term success. Beyond certification, VAW emphasizes career placement, professional networking, and continued mentorship to help graduates secure employment within the aviation industry, including flight instruction, charter operations, and commercial airline pathways. Community involvement is essential to VAW’s success. The organization is funded through individual donations, corporate sponsorships, fundraising events, and community partnerships. Signature events and raffles not only generate financial support but also raise awareness of veteran workforce development and aviation career opportunities.
Through its Sponsor a Vet initiative, donors can directly contribute to a veteran’s flight training journey, creating measurable and transparent impact. Volunteers also play a vital role by assisting with events, outreach, mentorship, and operational support.
Veteran Air Warriors believes that investing in veterans is both a moral responsibility and a practical solution to workforce shortages. By helping veterans take flight—literally and professionally—VAW honors their service and strengthens the future of American aviation.
