The Andy Irons Forever Festival is an annual surf contest and festival that was started many years ago by Bruce and Andy Irons, two iconic surfers from Kaua'i. Andy Irons, who has won three world titles and is the only surfer to have ever won at every single contest around the world, wanted to give back to his hometown and inspire young people to experience the joy of surfing. Over the course of 19 years, the surf contest has grown into a multi-faceted event that offers various activities and experiences.
In addition to the surf contest, which is specific for kids ten years old and younger, the festival now includes water safety clinics conducted by Lifeguards, an art contest by the students of Hanalei Elementary School, a surf movie night, beach cleanup by the Surfrider Foundation, an even a segment where kids learn and perform a song. This year, a new addition to the festival is the Alaia division and clinic, which aims to teach kids about the origins of surfing on wooden boards. Of course, the highlight of the festival remains the real surf contest.
The Andy Irons Forever Festival is not just about the completion but about introducing young surfers to the world of contest surfing in a fun and engaging way. It holds a special place in the hearts of surfers who grew up on Kauai, and many professional surfers have participated in the event and spoken about it in various publications. The Andy Irons Foundation is committed to creating a happy, safe, and loving environment for the youth of Kaua'i to thrive in.

A shadow box frame is a thick frame where the glass sits in front and there’s an open space (about 1 inch) between the glass and the matted print which sits back giving the frame and image a more three dimensional presence (photo 3 shows it clearly). Easy installation with honeycomb hangers. All you need is a hammer.

  • 6'10 Monkeypod Alaia by Lloyd Boards

    The Hōkūalele | 6’10 | Monkeypod

This Monkeypod was grown, harvested and milled below the beautiful Kalalea mountain in Anahola.

Shaped with a traditional alaia in mind with a pulled in tail and rounded nose.

This alaia was made with the help of our Kaua’i north shore keiki!

Hōkūalele means shooting star in Hawaiian which to us, is exactly what Andy represents to surfers around the world. It is also the name of the place that this piece was grown and milled.

  • Eric Arakawa Andy Irons Board

This is a replica of Andy Irons’ 6’10” ridden in the photo. The shape is derived from the actual file that was used to build that board. Every aspect handcrafted down to the last detail, including his glassed on fins and iconic red sun rise artwork. Handcrafted at the Arakawa factory on the North Shore.
