Did you know that third grade literacy rates are one of the predictors used by the department of corrections for the number of prison cells in 20 years?  The reason is that if a child can not read well by 3rd grade they may struggle with future lessons, not complete high school, potentially earn less income, and possibly turn to crime.

The Rotary club of Madison - Goodlettsville strives to partner with teachers and staff in the public schools to ensure the best skill building tools to develop reading excellence for kindergartners, first, second, and third graders.  Our current goal is to provide vocabulary building picture dictionaries in all kindergarten classrooms of the eight public schools of the towns we serve.  That's over 500 kids!
