My name is Karter Field Deedman and I'm hosting this raffle to fundraise for the Fawrah family in the Gaza Strip. I befriended Jihad Fawrah over the internet after I donated a little bit of money to help him buy food and he told me he gave some of the food to other starving children in his refugee camp. I was moved by his kindness towards others despite the conditions he was living in. In September, we fundraised $355 for Jihad to buy fish and distribute it throughout his refugee camp, helping dozens of starving families. Since then, my fundraising campaign has kept Jihad, his parents and 4 siblings from dying of starvation and hypothermia, and paid for surgery to remove shrapnel from Shadi's (Jihad's father) face. Now that the ceasefire has begun, Jihad and his family have returned to their destroyed home. They have no food or shelter, all they have is the rubble of their home. All the proceeds of this fundraiser will go to the Fawrah family to help them purchase food, blankets, shelter, and medication, and to meet other emergency survival needs.

The prizes were generously donated, so all ticket proceeds will be sent to Jihad. The raffle will close on Friday, February 21st, at 11 PM, and the prize winners will be announced on Saturday, February 22nd.
