FINAL UPDATE: We have a few people that are still looking to buy tickets. To allow for those who still want to get in, we are extending the time to buy tickets until 3pm tomorrow. Here is the link. https://rafflecreator.com/pages/92070/st-benilde-bourbon-plus-raffle-extension. The hard cap is still 500 tickets.
This past Fall, for the first time since I was named as Pastor of St. Benilde in Metairie, Louisiana, our Saint Vincent de Paul (https://stbenilde.org/st-vincent-de-paul-society) was unable to offer Thanksgiving Baskets due to lack of available funds. With the cost of everything going up (rent, utilities, insurance, etc) the amount of people needing assistance in order to get by has increased. The increased cost of living has also impacted the amount of money that people are able to donate to our St. Vincent de Paul.
I also want to highlight that the St. Vincent de Paul at St. Benilde Church is one of the largest and most active in this local community, despite our smaller Church parish. We have wonderful volunteers, give out tens of thousands in assistance every year, and have a beautiful Christmas giving tree. This community counts on us to be able to provide for the needs of those who ay be struggling to make ends meet. This ministry needs to continue.
Fast forward to this past December, and a few members of our parish were discerning how we could assist our Saint Vincent de Paul ministry with funding. Those discerning were also involved in the local Bourbon community and are well aware of the generosity and support that many of you offer to this community. And BOOM, our first Bourbon Plus Raffle was born.
We have been collecting bottles for it, and it has been incredible how God has anointed this endeavor. We have 88 bottles included, and most of them are allocated with several being unicorns. These will be spread out over 28 winning baskets and none of these baskets are duds.
I want to ensure you all that 100% OF EVERY PENNY RAISED (NOT JUST PROCEEDS) will go to our St. Vincent. Every single cost of the raffle and every bottle has been donated.
Assuming we come close to our goal of closing out the raffle, the St. Vincent de Paul will also make a gift of some of the money raised to St. Benilde School to help out our school families in need of some assistance of their own.
Raffle tickets will be $100 a piece. There are only 500 tickets to be sold, so your odds of getting some great alcohol is very good.
Drawing will be done live and online through facebook at St. Benilde at 7pm on Monday June 2nd, 2025. Those who come in person will also be eligible for some fun door prizes such as a Four Roses Aged and Ore bottle flight as well as some 1oz samples of some unicorns (Old Forester Birthday Bourbon, George T. Stagg 2018, and some other great pours). You can also bring your own stuff and hang out with fellow Bourbon aficionados.
Please consider not only personally supporting the mission of St. Vincent de Paul but also share this to get the message out!
