Seven months ago, firefighter Sam meek and his wife were overjoyed to learn they were expecting their first child, a baby boy, but during a routine follow-up appointment, their world was turned upside down. Doctors discovered that their unborn son has a rare and life-threatening heart condition called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS). This condition prevents his heart from developing properly and makes it unable to pump blood as it should.

Without immediate and ongoing medical intervention, their baby will not survive.

To make this possible, Sam and his wife have had to temporarily leave behind their jobs, their home, their friends, and their family to relocate to a specialized medical facility in another city — a decision that carries immense emotional, physical, and financial burdens.
